Juquehy

Renowned for its expansive 3.5-kilometer stretch of fine white sand.

What makes Juquehy special?

Long Beach, Calm Waters

Juquehy Beach stretches for about 3.5 km with soft white sand and clear, mostly calm waters. It’s great for families, sunbathing, swimming, and beach sports. Some parts have gentle waves for beginner surfers too. kayaking/paddleboarding.

Atlantic Rainforest Vibes

It’s backed by lush Atlantic Forest, part of the Serra do Mar ecosystem, giving it that green-meets-blue look. You can take short hikes, spot birds, or just chill with nature all around.

Just the Right Amount of Developed

Juquehy has a balanced vibe — more built-up than places like Barra do Una, but not overly touristy. There are charming inns, boutique hotels, and a small shopping area, but no massive resorts or loud beach clubs. Artists selling handmade jewelry and other things can be found along the main street. Like many places in Brazil, be prepared to pay more when they figure out that you are a foreigner.

Island & Boat Adventures

From the beach, you can hop on a boat to explore nearby islands like Montão de Trigo. Summer trips sometimes include dolphin spotting. Paddleboarding and kayaking are also popular.

Best Time to Visit

Summer (December to March)

Warm and sunny with tropical vibes. Sea temperature is perfect for swimming and water sports. This is high season, so it’s more lively with families and tourists — but not overly crowded, especially in late summer.

Autumn (April to June)

Mild, with less rain and cooler evenings. Still great for beach walks, surfing, and exploring the forest. Fewer people, good prices, and a more peaceful atmosphere. A great time for families and couples wanting a quiet trip.

The best time of year for surfing Praia do Juquei with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Autumn and most often the month of May.

Winter (July to August)

Cooler, with occasional overcast days. Still pleasant for nature trips and beachside meals. Very tranquil. Ideal if you want solitude, but some beach services (like boat tours or kiosks) might be reduced.

Spring (September to November)

Gradually warming up with clear skies and blooming greenery. A sweet spot between calm and buzz. Fewer crowds than summer, and most shops and services are already up and running.
