Praia das Conchas – A Hidden Cove of Shells and Silence
Tucked between rocks and rainforest along São Sebastião’s wild coastline, Praia das Conchas—also known locally as Prainha Preta—is one of the region’s most secluded and enchanting spots. True to its name, the beach is often scattered with an array of colorful seashells, giving it a distinctive, natural charm.
Small and serene, Praia das Conchas is only accessible by a short trail or by carefully crossing rocks from nearby beaches like Praia Preta. The effort to reach it is rewarded with a peaceful setting surrounded by untouched Atlantic forest, dark-toned sand, and the soothing sound of the waves.
Because of the rocky sea floor and the beach’s remote nature, it’s not ideal for swimming—but it is perfect for quiet reflection, nature photography, or simply enjoying a moment away from the crowds. The view from the rocks is especially beautiful, with clear waters and a sense of intimacy that larger beaches can’t offer.
Praia das Conchas is a place to slow down, explore barefoot, and discover the simple beauty of a hidden Brazilian cove that still feels wild and personal. This is one of my favorite beaches.
