Animalia Parque – A Close Encounter with Brazilian Wildlife

Located in Cotia, just outside São Paulo, Animalia Parque offers a special opportunity to see native Brazilian animals up close while learning about conservation and biodiversity. It’s a modern, well-organized wildlife park that focuses not only on entertainment, but also on education and environmental awareness—making it an ideal visit for families, photographers, or anyone curious about Brazil’s rich natural world.

More Than Just a Zoo

What sets Animalia apart is its focus on Brazilian species, many of which are rarely seen even in other parts of the country. From jaguars to tapirs, giant anteaters, capybaras, and colorful macaws, the park is home to animals that represent the true diversity of Brazil’s ecosystems—from the Amazon to the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

The enclosures are thoughtfully designed to mimic the animals' natural habitats, and signs throughout the park provide clear, accessible information about each species, including their conservation status and threats in the wild.

An Educational and Ethical Approach

Animalia Parque emphasizes conservation education, and many of the animals there were rescued from illegal trafficking or came from rehabilitation programs. The park works to raise awareness about the importance of protecting Brazil’s fauna and ecosystems, especially for younger generations.

Throughout the park, you’ll also find interactive spaces and activities that explain the role of each species in its habitat, how ecosystems function, and what individuals can do to help protect the environment.

My Visit

When I visited Animalia, I was impressed not only by the variety of animals but also by how clean, organized, and well-maintained everything was. It felt much more like a wildlife education center than a traditional zoo. I brought my camera and was able to capture some wonderful images—especially of birds and monkeys in natural light and settings that didn’t feel artificial.

It was both a fun and meaningful experience, and I left with a deeper appreciation for the richness—and vulnerability—of Brazilian wildlife.
