Iona
The Iona is a flagship vessel of P&O Cruises, launched in 2020 and designed with Northern European itineraries in mind. As one of the first large cruise ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), she represents a more environmentally conscious approach to cruising.
With a capacity of over 5,000 passengers, Iona is among the larger ships regularly visiting the Norwegian coast. Despite her size, the ship is designed to feel open and connected to the surroundings, with large glass areas and outdoor spaces that are ideal for scenic cruising.
One of her most distinctive features is the SkyDome – a large glass-roofed area that functions as a relaxed pool space during the day and transforms into an entertainment venue in the evening. The ship also offers a wide range of restaurants, lounges, and viewing areas, many inspired by British design and culture.
When Iona arrives in Haugesund, she becomes a dominant presence along the waterfront. Her modern profile contrasts beautifully with the historic maritime landscape, making her a popular subject for photography in the busy waters of Karmsundet.
